Received my seeds from the seed project today :-)
Does anyone have any experience with Marina di Chioggia. I noticed it was a winter squash and was a bit worried about our early frosts. I don't want to give up the considerable space it needs if it will be killed off by frost before I get any fruit.
Another problem is what am I meant to do with it if I do get any fruit? I have very limited experience with winter squash cooking - Any tips? Maybe I should post the second question on the recipe board later on in the year if I do get anything from it.

    Thanks

Winter squashes are brilliant in the kitchen, possibly less so in a frost in Sweden (colder than Balmy Broadstone)

If I were to try just one seed, to get just one plant, and cut off excess flowers so I got one squash and beat the frosts, the taste would be worth it. If you like carrot and potato soup, you would love squash soup. But squashes are great roasted in the oven with parsnips and potatoes and carrots. And they store well into the winter.

You have to try it just once. If it fails, you know you gave it your best shot...........

Plant them all, just in case you only get a 20% germination rate

I haven't received mine yet. What type seeds this year? Should I get them automatically? I sent a couple of e-mails and did numerous site searches but all's quite on the Western front.
