Having just done a buthery course, I'm trying to source good organic (and / or rare breed) pork. I live near Buckingham in the north of the county and am looking for at least a half-pig (I'd go for a whole but my eyes might be bigger than my freezer ;-) )
If anyone has any ideas, I'd really appreciate it - internet seraches have come to nothing I'm afraid
Thanks
Richard

Try Elliots of Towcester
There is a good butcher outside of Banbury
There is a good butcher near you again the name escapes me
Try the Rare Breeds Directory?
Contact an abatoire [sp] and work backwards?
Contact the poster just below this and see if they have a list of pig farms? They have their own pigs ready for slaughter .......

Hi,
Thanks for that. I think the butcher you might have been thinking of is the one in Padbury - which is indeed excellent. I've not dome this before, but given they make there own sauasages, bacon and ham...i'm not too sure i'd get a great deal purchasing a whoole carcus from them...but I'd love to find out I'm wrong so will go and ask ;-)
Will also check out the rare-breeds and abbatoirs as well
If anyone knows of any smallholdings etc that would be interested in selling a carcuss - let me know
Thanks
Richard

I second the vote for the Bennets near Amersham (a few posts above this one), I get a half a pig from them every autumn, plus a few bits in between from their stall at Tring Farmers' Market.

There is a farm near Potterspury, Towcester that has Kelly Bronze turkeys as well as home bred pork - we went recently and the people are really helpful - piggy was running around 4 days prior to us buying parts of it
it's opposite the Wakefield Farm Shop on the A5
