Well worth popping in to this traditional village pub if you're in the area. We have a newlandlord now, an dhe and his chef are making a real go of it - freshly cooked food, seasonal, local, well kept and good beers, good range of drinks, lovely wine list. Knowledgeable and friendly staff, helpful.
REgular Gourmet nights are now a feature. I went to their Fish one last night - a superb meal, wine with every course, allf reeshly cooked, and a talk and look at fresh fish by our (my) excellent local fishmonger. Menu was:
Clam chowder (razor clams); a set terrine of white fish, salsify and leek; twice baked souffle (smoked haddock); locally caught turbot poached in red wine with artichoke puree, roasted carrot and spinach; carrageen moss ice cream, seaweed jelly on a beach; Coastal cheese with water biscuits; coffee and petit fours.
Reasonably priced, child and dog friendly; big beer garden with a view out over the Blackmore Vale;changing, varied and interesting menu, handcut chips; takeaway fish and chip service.
There is still a lot the new landlord wants to do with the place, but he's well on course.
    Can recommend it.
