Hello everyone. I thought you may be interested in a new product that is coming to market within the next couple of weeks. Partly inspired by Hugh and his landshare project we have made an innovative new product called the VegTrug which will enable anyone with the smallest space or even a balcony to grow their own vegetables. The website is:

    http://www.vegtrug.com

The product will be launched in Birmingham to the trade at GLEE September 20th and will also be on Ideal World Shopping TV from November onwards. It should be in a garden centre near you from spring next year.

That looks a very nice item for town gardens. It looks very posh and I am sure it will appeal to many people especially people who cant garden anymore due to bad backs etc. I used to work in a nursing home and those would have been ideal for those who wanted to potter in the garden but were in wheelchairs! Good luck Hermit

Hello marcus Thank you for the info.I do appreciate not every one has a reasonably equiped wood work shop so stopping them from making any thing from a pallats. But being farm connected I have little or no problem with aquiring pallats or 1 ton bags to cut up or a drop of Roundup etc;etc;and.I also know that £100 is a reasonable price to pay for something that with a bit of luck will last for years.Plus the amount of pleasure you will get from it One can easily blue £100 on a good night out.Thats only one night. The Veg trug every night for a number of years. Its still expensive against pallats free and a few screws to me George

What happened to the pictures? Or did they infringe copyright from the original creators? http://www.veg-tableltd.com/

Hello Marks and loux.Mine has pictures and jolly good ones but its not like a Trug as I know it.Its like a sawing horse with the bit where I would place my branch to saw the logs off the end.Well that bit is boarded in giving a sort of triangular planter on X legs. Its not a basket at all Can you visualise it Yes and the pictures are NOT there on mine this morning Georgee

Does it look the same as the ones on this site? http://www.veg-tableltd.com/

I would have thought it would be something you can pick up and carry around, since a "trug" is a basket with a handle, traditionally used for cut flowers or produce, or more recently those big plastic buckets with two smaller handles.

OUCH! Just seen the prices...I could send my geese to finishing school for less. they need it!

When I see things like this advertised I immediately think of the adverts in the back of the Mail on Sunday. Lemonade quality at champagne prices.

I'm incredibly clumsy and hard handed and stuff like that breaks within a week if I am in charge. It's almost as if I push stuff to it's limit to see if it's up to the job! I'm always being tutted at by the OH

Make it properly out of 4x2 and some ex pallet planking, a coat of creosote and bobs your uncle. It'll still be there in 10 years time. And will cost a fiver max.

Thanks for the pattern though guys.

am i missing something or is this no more than a wooden trough with a plastic liner? so a few bits of old 6 x 1 floorboard, and a bit of plastic sheeting and you have the basic components? i do like the retail price, well i would if i was the retailer.
i see that they only come in 2 sizes, well if any one wants a "Veggie Trough" (must remember to copyright that name) in a size other than the veg trug let me know. i reckon i could knock these up for £60 a small one and £100 for a larger one. they will have "Veggie Trough" written in the side in marker pen, so you know what to use them for. I also market "Flower Trough", similar to Veggie trough but specifically for flowers. if you want to grow flowers and fruit or veg you can not use one for the other you have to buy separate toughs, otherwise you will get confused.

good luck to them if they can get away with it, maybe those who buy eglus will buy them?

    sg
