struggling........is it going to get better?

Can i ask ? it's freezing............the ground is sodden. My veggies are frostbitten even in store. My fingers are frostbit also.
Last year what the pigeons didn;t eat the snails/slugs did despite my nocturnal efforts to round them up. We ended up with enough produce for a couple of meals. My compost did not compost, reading how to 'do it' obviously didn;t work my leaf mould carefully collected over 2 years is a solid brown block. My visions of a wood burning stove with sustainable wood roaring away. and me bottling my preserves and glut of goodies is fast dissapearing in a clod of wet and damp despair. How do hugh and the gang always look so happy? just how long does it take to be at one with the growing seasons and natural rythm? As a keen follower of the school of John Seymour and now Hugh and team..............my cycling to and fro to find locally sourced organic food, to save petrol and the planet the cracked fingers and wind burnt face make me wonder. Is this just a phase before it all breaks into bud and life again and the days lenghten? help, someone tell me it's all worth it-or do we all have doubting moments ?

Reading up about keeping bees, and hope to have some soon. Have the River Cottage handbook and signed for a course in the spring. Have an urban garden, and gradually turning more and more over to veggies. The landshare scheme is fantastic!
Our christmas turkey was cookd how Hugh suggested with the legs etc coq au vin style ,,gorgeous, thanks Hugh.
Even got my lovley hubby making his own bread for weeks now-never buy another loaf.
