We are in the middle of Calving our dexters, due to the fact that i live in West Sussex and work in central London, my wife visits the cattle in the afternoon (i do the morning visit)!
Today she broke her ankle at work i rushed home doing her visit on the way and took her to casualty. "Yep it's broke" said the doctor.

Now if one of the cows broke an ankle i would probably have to have her shot and lets face it that would be the kindest thing.

But in the wifes case not only has  she broken her ankle, she has done it at the worst possible time, Calving!!!!

Would it be easier to shot her and get a new one??

Not so much putting her out of her misery but putting me out of mine?

i mean two visits a day calving on my own, a man can only take so much!!

Shoot her.  It's kindest in the end, after all when she gets home she's going to have a devil of a job to get your pipe, slippers and dinner on the table!!!!!

    Weed it and reap.

    Al,

You sound like my husband.  We have Dexters as well.  I feel the Cattle are more important than the family.  If we get sick or hurt ourselves it's like get over it.  If anything happens to the cows or his precious Bull Horacccio we all know about it.

The way I see it is that women moan so much that you will be hearing about this for months to come, so the best bet is to shoot her and find a younger model, they don't complain as much and by the time they start you can part ex them in for another younger model anyway!

Women moan????? OH had a cold over Christmas and New Year - it was a pitiful sight - all that moaning and groaning really doesn't suit a grown man....
Now I also had a bad cold over Christmas and New Year - the sheep, pigs, chooks, cats etc still needed feeding and watering and I managed to struggle through without a word of complaint

200 primitive sheep, 4 kunekune pigs, 2 donkeys, 1 shetland pony, 12 cats (including 2 naked Sphynx cats) and a bunch of gruesome chickens...
